General Merchandise Manager


Job Accountabilities

  • Plan short term business strategy to support long term company goals
  • Work to meet and thrive to exceed planned shipments; control expenses and plan manpower efficiently, to meet budget and fulfill Profit/Loss responsibilities
  • Budgeted preparation – forecast business turnover; business initiation for the subsequent year
  • Lead subordinates to meet changing business demands for client satisfaction
  • Periodic review and evaluation in department performance
  • Develop and implement new and innovative action plans to achieve new business objectives
  • Ensure smooth running of the whole merchandising, quality assurance and technical support process, from product development to product delivery
  • Aim to have no client/ vendor disputes, but do stay active in any negotiations, disagreements, and if unavoidable, claims
  • Identify cause of current problems and to anticipate potential pitfalls, to prepare workable solutions and to work on improvement methods
  • Responsible for team building including supervise, motivate and coach subordinates
  • Motivate and make recommendations regarding the selection, allocation, transfer, promotion and remuneration of subordinates
  • Strengthen the merchandising professionalism of the department to ensure a high standard of service to clients
  • Implement and maintain operational policies/procedures for handling the company’s business
  • Plan and carry out strategic sourcing and supplier developments, to build resources to support and to grow the business
  • Direct market research efforts and new product developments to enhance service to clients and to drive business
  • Ensure timely submission of any market and management reports

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge in furniture and hardline product manufacturing process and proven skills in market and vendor management
  • Knowledge in USA and/ or European market is required
  • Strong management and leadership skill, possess strategic and analytical thinking and high level of initiative and integrity
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skill to interact with all levels, both external and internal. Commitment and result driven are definitely a plus
  • Fluency in spoken & written English is prerequisite; Vietnamese & Mandarin is an advantage
  • Willing to travel frequently inside & outside Vietnam
